I am looking for a vintage BB gun. I ran across a 102 36 in an antique store. They are asking 24 dollars for it. Its a wood stock looks original to the gun is about 70 % original finish, cocks OK. no real damage I can see. made in Rogers. serial no  is in the photo. Is that an ok price?  When was it made? Thanks.

It might be September of 1973, but there's a pretty good chance the gun was made earlier than that (I think that by '73 these guns were called a "102") and if that's the case, the REG. NO. isn't any help except to the Daisy Museum and others who have access to a similar data base. The Daisy museum has a form you can fill out and mail to them to get info (form HERE).

The Daisy numbering system is described here: http://www.network54.com/Forum/576299/message/1379141967/The+Daisy+Numbering+system

Hard for me to say on the value- that's better left to someone who deals in them. But going by eBay prices, the asking price is okay as long as it shoots as it should. I'd bring a few BBs and try to get permission to step out back with it and see how it shoots.

BTW, regarding the letter "I" not being used, I have documented several models that have used an "I" prefix:

26

94

102

102-36

103

111

1201

1894

Note that some may also use the prefix "M"- which means that "I" was NOT used, at least in that particular era/decade.

Are you positive the stock is wood? I thought I detected a casting ridge in the center and the color looks like several plastics I have.
