    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://forum.daisymuseum.com/member_profile.asp?PF=9335">theoldsarge</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> Intro and question on 2202 magazine<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> May-16-2012 at 11:31pm<br /><br />Picked up one 2202 on Mon, and the other today.&nbsp; The one on Mon is missing the rear sight, and the butt plate.&nbsp; Cost, $40, some time, and 2-3 gallons of gas.<div>The one today is missing the trigger group detente pin, spring, and clip; have a lead where I can get all three.&nbsp; Then just have to figure how to put them in, probably just take the buttstock off, no biggie.&nbsp; Cost, $39, $30 shipping - which included a very nice hard case that wasn't mentioned before, and $20 for my FFL guy.&nbsp; $89 in hand.&nbsp; So total for the two, $129, in hand, plus the gas.&nbsp; You just have to have patience, and keep looking.&nbsp; &nbsp;</div><div>Both have magazines, and the actions/bolts just as they are supposed to.&nbsp; Oh yes, both in very nice condition, with the exception of a bit of paint off here and there, I'm thinking the best repair for that is a black magic marker.&nbsp; I'll be trying that as soon as I find my marker.&nbsp; Strange, both stocks are plastic, but one is woodish colored, and the other is black.&nbsp; </div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>My son gave me a lead on some Ruger magazines, for around $4-5 each.&nbsp; I hope to have one in a few days, then I'll see if I can get it to fit - and work.&nbsp; Will keep you advised.</div>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://forum.daisymuseum.com/member_profile.asp?PF=9344">Craig3R</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> Need help with 499 sight ID<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> May-16-2012 at 10:14am<br /><br /><P>New guy here - and I need some help - why does this 499B have&nbsp;plain sights.</P><DIV>I recently purchased a very used&nbsp;Daisy 499B.&nbsp; It looks just like my Newer 499B except: (1) it does not have a rear peep sight it has an iron notch rear sight (2) the front sight is not hooded it is a regular post (3) there is no coin in the wood stock.&nbsp; Otherwise it is a true 499 style rifle - single shot muzzle loader with plastic safety.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>I have never seen a 499B with regular iron sights like this one.&nbsp; They are welded in, and the barrel is definately molded for these sights.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Is this a special edition or maybe both types of guns were offered at some time?&nbsp; What was the reason for this? I remembered this old Daisy toy gun I have from my youth so went and found it in the shop. I can't remember for sure but I think it was from the early to mid 70's. It is mostly white with a red stock, cocking lever and what is probably supposed to be a flash arrestor on the end of the barrel.&nbsp;It also had some blue&nbsp;writing that has now faded.&nbsp; The barrel is stamped with</P><DIV>DAISY&nbsp;MODEL 1011 (could be 4011)</DIV><DIV>ROGERS ARKANSAS, USA</DIV><DIV>Divison VICTOR</DIV><DIV>COMPTOMETER CORPORATION</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>I didn't see anything like it in the museum but I would really like to know what it is.
