I finally broke 400 fps with a spring action Daisy! The gun is a 1989 Red Ryder Classic. I installed a Cobalt spring and 7/64" air tube, new barrel assembly, and a new plunger seal. Got 404 fps with the very first shot. It varied between 380-401 after. Hits really hard and shoots straight for a RR. Thanks to Mark for his awesome parts!

Thanks! I have recently focused on polishing the spring tube on the outside and inside of the slot. I also polish the end that has the sear attached where it rubs on the top inside of the reciever. Really make cocking smooth and quiet. The heart is definitly the spring. Anything to reduce friction between it and the tube makes a huge difference to me. I put a thin coat of thin moly lube on everything too.

I've been using a lube in all my rebuilds that I favor in my semi-auto gear. It may be considered pricey, but a little goes a long way. It's called NECO moly slide. I put a little on the plunger casing so the spring slides with ease, a dab on the end of the lever finger and where it's pinched by the bolt, and a tiny dab on the trigger sear and where it hangs on the older guns That and the Norvey turbine lube on the plunger head and wiper is all I've been doing to them. They seem to function with great smoothness.
Much improved over the factory built.

Polishing the compression chamber is easy with a drill and a nice brass wire brush. It definitely improves the overall function and speed. Everyone should try it. Good input, Undertaker!
Be, be the ball.
