I have 2 N.177 Target Special Pistols. One has a brown plastic handle, a short front sight and "V" rear sight. It loads like speed loader. The second has a white plastic handle with tall front sight and rear combination "V" and hole rear sight. It has a shot tube that that is a single shot muzzle loader, but the standard gravity feed shot tube fits it perfectly. Can anyone shed any light on these 2 variations?

The shot tube that I thought was a single shot muzzle loader is actually a cork ball shot tube which came in the Model 1177 shooting set with the whirlybird target.

GARY, I think your white handle 177 was a montgomery ward marketed pistol (if I remember correctly) and was part of cork ball SKEET SHOOTING gun set. Anyway the "single shot" shot tube is indeed a cork shot tube. Daisy marketed the 177 as a cork gun (model 178 BUT GUN STILL STAMPED 177) and as part of family target sets. SEE PICS BELOW.

Thanks for posting that, Rick- very interesting.
By the way, for anyone not familiar with the author of The Daisy Family Room Shootin' Set, Trevor Adams, he has a way-cool airgun site. It's well worth a visit!
Daisy Page http://cinedux.com/daisy-airguns.php The page seems to be down... |

Thank you Mark. Unfortunately to report Trevor passed away one year and four days ago and I will miss him. He was a great air gunner and a friend and mentor to me and miss his emails and phone calls. He had a great sense of humor when he wrote his articles in the New Zealand Airgunner magazines. His articles were both informative and entertaining. He had a tremendous collection of air gun memorabilia. He had a great affection for daisy products and wrote many articles about daisy products. Thanks Mark for recognizing him. He had to sell his website about four years ago when he went into a senior living facility and didn’t have the money to maintain it. But I’m glad it’s still out there.

That is very sad news, Rick. I wasn't aware of his passing, nor that the site was sold. It seems the site is still down, I sure hope this doesn't mean we have lost this valuable resource.
I was able to track down some of his work that includes a collection of Daisy-centric articles at "The Vintage Airguns Gallery"- which is also an excellent resource. See them here: https://forum.vintageairgunsgallery.com/adams-trevor-vintage-airgun-articles/
