My friend Paul just sent me some photos of his Daisy model 111 resto/custom. It's patterned after the Winchester Model 1866:

He tells me the symbols are called "Togia", and that they're used by the Lakota tribe. The meanings are as follows:
Across the butt end (E A W) "Headman-Sitting Bull- Hunkpapa". Then across the bottom- "Rode Together-Ogalala- Crazy Horse- Gall- Friends- Fought Together-Battle- Grease Grass". Then across the top starting with circle & dots- "Mitwatani Society (protecter of leaders family & would be tie to stake with only pistol and war club and fight any one that came to fight could only be released by one of his own warriors) - Galls Kangiska Band (group that fought together under Gall) - Killed Plenty Soldiers - Rosebud Battle".

The other side has Elk Medallion- Indian Head & Bufallo Nickle- Running Deer

Right Side Forearm says, "Paha Sapa (Black Hills)- Scout- Plenty Soldiers- Hunt- Sitting Bull & Slow (childhood name meaning Deliberate)".

Left Side Forearm says, "White- Bull- Minneconjou- Battle- Greasy Grass- Killed- Plenty- Soldiers".

That’s pretty neat !
Especially like the running deer and embedded coins/medallions.
Is that hammer functional ?

The Hammer is not functional just gives a better look for Yellow Boy 1866.
