I am searching for a nice Daisy 300 scope with the rpoper mounts for a No.111 Mdl.40 Red Ryder. Please contact me if you have one for sale. Thanks!
Note: The rear mount on this scope below is NOT correct for the 111-40 but for a No.25.

Some No. 111 Mdl. 40 Red Ryders came with the No. 25 style rear scope mount. I have a like new No. 311 Gun-n-Scope Target Outfit with a variation 7 Red Ryder that has the 25 style rear mount. Of course it has the plastic stock so maybe they chose to use the 25 style mount. Don't know what the earlier No. 311 outfits with wooden stocks used.

Yes thanks for posting those instructions. It appears that the tang style rear sight mount was used for both applications. But I have seen some Red Ryders have a rear mount without the tang strap. Also the model 142 Defender that came with the 300 scope from Montgomery Wards did not have the tang strap. So I'd say go with either way on your gun. An interesting note is that I have a No. 325 Daisy Two-Way Target Outfit and the No. 25 has the tang style rear mount with a hole on the top with a screw in it. So they drilled a hole on the top of the gun to add that screw in addition to the one on the tang strap? Why would they do that?

I also have the No. 311 Gun-N-Scope Target Outfit (Variation 7). It also has the No. 300 scope with the "Model 25" tang.

I have the 142 defender with scope from Montgomery Wards and you’re correct on the wheel tang. I have the cork / BB gun model 25 set with 300 scope and Bell target as well. Got rid of the box…hate boxes, clutters up the place
Looking for a strap / sling for a 140 defender …cash or trade Rodger in Cincinnati |
