I have been looking for a Daisy No.88 Hunter for quite awhile.  That is a 1959 or 1960 lever action with a ram in crosshairs embossed in the plastic stock, fabric sling and a No.303 scope.  Within the last few days I have seen on ebay several No.88s with wooden stocks, fabric slings and no holes in for the 303 scope bracket.  Is it possible that I am seeing 1961 Daisy Model  No.88s?  I assume that they would not be Hunters!

The 88 Hunter was a 'light frame' Daisy, the wooden stocked 88 is the Sportsman and it's a wide frame gun. The Sportsman isn't exactly common but it is seen a lot more often than the Hunter.

Is a 1958 No. 98 Eagle an example of a "light frame" Daisy?  And is the No.88 wooden stock Sportsman from 1961?

The 98 is a wide frame.

The 88 Sportsman was made in the '70s.

See photos for the differences in frames. Slight variations occur but light vs. wide frames will resemble those in the photo.
