Not much to do up here with 18" of snow falling. I had this #11 Mod. 29 kicking around that needed TLC so today was the day. It's a bit rough. It had a hairline crack in the stock. Usual place but the grain goes all the way back so it was only about 4" long. The gun had been shot so many times that the airtube was almost rounded over closed. Otherwise all original. I pried open the crack and inserted some exterior wood glue. Left it clamped over the baseboard heater. Removed the power plant and feathered the airtube with some prying and some drilling out. Put her back together and she shoots pretty derned hard. The crack is hard to see but that it broke the original finish. I bought it at a yard sale thinking it was a parts gun but.......

I have a Daisy 11-24, 350 shot nickel finish, real nice, unable to get a
photo of the gun on here.

I hope you can stay safe, dry and survive the storm.

Very cool. I love fixing up these old guns. I am working on two buzz bartons at the moment. Will post pics when done.

Fuse,
How do you get the glue into the crack.
I have a couple that could use the treatment but they are in the common top screw area.
Thanks.

Hmmmmm. Thought I answered you about the glue issue a couple days ago. Guess I didn't press post. I pried open the crack about 1/16" with a small sharp edged paint scraper. Encouraged the glue into the crack with a dental pick and then clamped it. I use durabond II exterior carpenters glue.

BTW that long mark near the bottom edge of the stock isn't the crack. That's a flaw left by a chip in the jointer blade when the stock was made. The actual crack is around the top screw, in the usual spot.

Fuse, Thanks for the explanation and the update.
I thought the 'flaw' was the crack.
