    Posted: March-12-2019 at 10:52am
I recently came across a Daisy Rifle that a friend of mines father has had in his closet for many years that was originally purchased at a yard sale in the early 90’s. From what research I have done, it is indeed an original “Christmas Dream” with the Japanese compass and blue indicator. It has the original box, (slightly worn on one end with partially peeled Oval Christmas Story sticker) and sundial instruction card. But the gun itself is immaculate. He said it has never been shot and I believe it. It even looks as if it has the original production oil around the screws still. Original leather ring tie is still intact. Serial number starts with 3K. My questions are, what exactly do I have? Is this as rare as it seems? What value would I place on it? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to let me know if I have broken any forum rules with this post.

I always say the value is what a buyer is willing to pay. This one doesn't appear to be as nice as yours although you might be able to gauge what collectors are willing to pay by monitoring the auction.

I have no idea of value, NewGuy, but that's one very nice gun.

Thank you for the help. I myself had come across that one, it did however have a broken stock. But I’m not sure how much that affects the value.

I thank all of you for the input so far

They're available so rarely that it's a hard thing to put a consistent value on. The broken stock would definitely hurt the other one. I'd be interested as well should it become available. everettgrichardson at gmail.com

Thanks, Hunter.
Using auctions that actually sell is a better guide than what someone hopes they might get for one.

Prices paid for the first year version-1983 new in box run all over the place  especially just before Christmas. Some times you can find a bargain but most run quite a bit over $200.

Ejwills.
PS- different versions

Sorry, lost my password and apparently there is no way to recover it.... So I had to register again to reply to my post. Just wanted to thank everyone for the feedback, you have all been very helpful. It’s looking like the only way to truly determine the value is to put it up for sale. At this point, I’m still not sure I want to let it go, but on the other hand I’m not really a collector. But those interested will definitely be notified when I make a final decision. I thank you all once again for the input. You are a great community.
