I have a daisy 1700 that has a very difficult safety button. You have to force it on and off. Any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it?

My experience has shown that the cross-bolt safety is usually neglected when a gun is cleaned/oiled. Tyr a little WD40 on the safety and work it back and forth. Sometimes it's as simple as it being too "dry" to move easily.

I thought I would have to replace the trigger assembly on one of my Red Ryders but a little lube and patience saved the day.
