Chris, the Model 98 Monte Carlo was produced from 1974 - 1978.  From your lot # I think your's was produced in August of 1976.

You have an interesting gun in the 1976 model 98 if it's like the 1974 model 98. The '74 used a transitional loading system, where the BBs are loaded from the bottom of the shroud, and the gravity feed shot tube is different than the type preceded it. It also uses the same trigger module as the model 99. IMHO it's a better trigger than the single piece steel trigger- I find it has a lighter pull and it's more predictable. It may have the Daisy sticker on the lever flange, these were made during the Heddon/Victor era.
