Hello All,

After many many years I finally got my first Daisy after growing up watching them in movies and the like and a friend having a Lever Action of some sort that we'd play pretend with (It was an Air Gun but his Dad stopped it from firing, can't remember the make).

Now via youtube I've been going down various rabbit holes, learning to make targets etc and I came across how to give the old Red Ryder a little more kick using the Airtube and spring mods and that the 1999 fibre optic sight can be fitted (great for gloomy weather), only problem is I've had no luck actually tracking them down, all for sale are stateside and I'm not entirely sure how parts passing through the UK system works as the actual guns as I found out can't.

So what I'm asking is is there a good parts source in or that sends to the UK and what would need to be done etc to have them delivered?

Thanks in advance.

I tried several times to ship to Canada and each time the parts were confiscated by customs at the border. So that has stopped me from ever trying to ship anywhere outside the US. Heck, even shipping inside the US is no guarantee, what with how the USPS loses things!

Have you tried having it sent to a Gunsmith perhaps?

I'm new to it all but seems in the UK they are allowed to transport anything weapons wise but not normal couriers as my Daisy was driven by the shop itself, could perhaps be the same for Canada.

Here I'm having no end of fun just finding shops that stock anything more than Airsoft, I can order the BBs no problem and targets but anything official or unofficial but intended for is seemingly a dead end and making a spring and tubes a bit beyond me currently (assuming thats all a 1938B would need to boost power), I could maybe make a Fibreoptic sight if I had a spare stock one but I'd be hessitant to do it with the one I have incase it doesn't go to plan.

Thanks George, I have been watching him a fair bit and it's whats made me to decide on upgrading parts, just having a hell of a time finding a source of the parts in the UK, I could probably get my Old Man to bore out the Air tube if I can get a spare but even thats a struggle, Daisy themselves have told me to try Gamo.

Daft thing is I could legally go to the united states and fly back with the parts in my hand luggage but I can't get anything sent it seems.

Segata, if you do come to the US looking for parts, don't forget to have some airgun fun while you're here. I'm sure some of us would be willing to get acquainted. I know that I sure would.

Hello Russ, I couldn't justify that I'm afraid as I could buy a real rifle for what the flights would cost alone but should I ever make it back for a holiday I'll definately look things up.

At this rate I think I'll have to look at custom made (as a one off of course) if I can get accurate measurments which likely will not be a cheap process.

We got 300 fps using a stock 1938B spring with a 5/8" preload spacer and a 3/32" ID air tube. You can drill the air tube out easily to 3/32", 7/64" is considerably harder, and while 1/8" is possible, the walls are too thin in my opinion and centering the hole becomes uber critical so as to not cut through the side if the air tube.

So perhaps it might be better making a tube rather than drilling out an existing one?

What does the preload spacer look like? I've not seen one mentioned before so I'd definately see about getting one made.

You can use copper tubing or a PVC coupler like found in the plumbing area of the hardware store for a spacer. There's no reason not to use a Daisy air tube drilled 3/32".
