Thanks for that, I think I understand, it sits abit like a coil spring spacer on a lifted truck, I'm going to try and get a spare tube still just incase it should come into issues, Dad being an engineer means the drilling precisely isn't a problem but theres always that slim chance something can go wrong.
If I could find a spring maker (while the work ones gone I might be able to find another through my old Car contacts) would it be ok to have a one off super spring made as I can't import one (otherwise I'd gladly buy one from you directly)? Just leaves figuring out DIY'ing the Fibre Optic sight now, did consider an adult stock too (no where in the UK sells that version of the RR) but the standard one doesn't feel all that bad even with my large frame. |

A lot of folks have made stocks with an extended length of pull by tracing the outline of the Red Ryder stock onto kraft paper and adding a couple inches to the rear of it to use as a template. Generally, boards that are readily available are going to be a little thinner than the factory stock, but you can improvise by gluing wood together to make a thicker piece to work with. Shane Bruce shows some stock making tips in a few of his Daisy BB gun videos, you can see his video titles here: https://www.youtube.com/c/RestOModDaisy/videos
The only requirement for drilling the air tube is an 'aircraft extension' drill bit because a standard length "jobber" drill bit isn't long enough. I use Tap Magic for lube and feed the bit into the work slowly, using a fair amount of rpm on the chuck. Back the bit out often to remove chips/swarf. Otherwise, I'm sure your dad will have a method he prefers. I believe you will find the cost to have a spring made will not be cost-effective. Before going to that extreme, you might want to look into having a parcel shipping service "middle man" the order for you.

I'm not sure what sizes are available to you in the UK, but here's what I've used in the US.
A piece of 7/8 inch wood can easily be made by gluing a piece of 5/8 plywood to a piece of 1/4. The 7/8 inch dimension is just about right to fit into the receiver when customizing a stock. Another trick is to use a piece of 1 inch thick wood, like a stair tread, and sand off 1/16 inch off each side where it enters the receiver of the gun. As far as preloading a spring, a piece of 1/2 inch copper plumbing tubing has a 5/8 outside diameter. A length of this tubing of 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch long will increase velocity. Good luck. Russ. |

I'm going to leave the stock tbh, I don't find it uncomftable to use at all and worse case senario a butt cushion (intresting name) will probably solve it and keep the original for display (I made a plaque with scrp from my target set up).
UKs odd but in a good way as I can get both Imperial and Metric so thats no problem or I can just ask the Old Man if he can turn it down to the right size, I'm just limited myself as medically I'm banned from some tooling. Middle man does sound like a plan but any ideas where I'd start? I'm guessing could be done Gunsmith to Gunsmith as theres definately US made Guns in the UK that will need parts from the US from time to time so someone must be doing it but question is who and what will it cost to do as while the parts are all reasonably priced I'd imagine delivery and Customs will be expensive meaning I'd be best pricing up and getting the cash together to do it in one hit. |

I'll be happy to comp you the parts. I suggest doing an online search for a parcel forwarding service that allows you to shop in the US, providing you with a US shipping address. They would then forward the package to you in the UK.

Still searching, been looking at rules at regs etc but its stumping me a little, tried one importers quote system and they wanted 53 quid for a small box so definately will keep on looking, if anyone at all has got an idea or doesn't mind asking in their local Gunshop how they might go about it I much appreciate it, I've emailed the shop I brought the Gun from and Restomod daisy too to see if they can offer any advice.
