I have a 1938A here and the lot # is L807908. Am I understanding right that this is November of 1980?

Also, I have what I think is a very early 1938B, but the coding is different and I'm not sure I understand it. Lot # 3A01891.

Any input or thoughts?

I think with L8, the 8 would be the last digit of the year, making the date 1978. I also think by 1980 they were 1938"B"s. But I tend to be confused by the codes as they relate to dates, so no promises! lol

Ah, yes. I think you are correct. Thank you. That means this 1938A was made the year I was born then.

Anyone understand how to decode the other one?

Going by the info from the link above, the first number is the last digit of the year followed by the month code. So 3A01891 could be 1983 January.

I think you have it exactly right Cobalt.

In the thread willielumplump started, the lot no. he mentioned was L813439. Very close to yours. It'll be cool to see what the Daisy Museum can add to the discussion!

I noticed that as well. I'm glad you hunted that thread down, thank you. At least 13,439 of them I guess! I haven't hear back from Daisy yet, I imagine it could be a while. I am trying my best to be patient, but the anticipation is killing me!
