I bought the super spring and 764” air tube from colbolt 327.
Made myself a spring compressor as suggested on this forum using plastic pipe. Disassembled the gun and pulled the locking piece without any problems.
Ran a piece of M3 3/32” down the barrel to the rear of the gun to use as a guide for reassembling the plunger assembly. It seem to go well but this is my first attempt  so not quite sure.
Compressed the new spring and inserted the locking piece without a lot of problems. I did notice that the locking piece did not sit as flush as with the stock build.
I continued to reassemble the lever, trigger and stock onto the gun.
Felt proud of myself but aware that something  could go wrong.
Cocked the lever and pulled the trigger, nothing happen.
The locking mechanism is now up a little and bent toward the front site. I believe the main spring is compressed at least some if not fully. Trigger does nothing.
Any ideas how to get out of this jam.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi there Mark. You may be experiencing a minor problem with the spring retainer (I think you are calling it the locking piece) not properly installed. If you can use your homemade tool to compress the mainspring again and then reinsert the retainer so that the slight curve on the bottom faces the rear and catches on the rivet that runs through the receiver, this might be all you need.   If not, we can look at a few other things.

Thanks. Just got all pieces out of the gun somehow. Pulled on the spring from the back of the gun and the spring retainer came out.  Plunger assembly and trigger assembly come out without too much problems. Only damage I see is a little caving in on the sheet metal where the retaining clip goes.
I should be able to push that area smooth by working it with a punch or thin piece of wood from the inside.
Not sure what to check on the trigger assembly.  It looks good but not sure how it is suppose to work.
Any suggestions?

Mark, just wondering, what model Red Ryder do you have? 111-40? 1938? 1938B?

Well Mark, these newer RRs are pretty simple.   Put in the plunger and spring assembly and compress the spring. Insert the spring retainer as I described above. Install the trigger assembly being sure that the ratchet arm (anti beartrap arm) is below the rear of the plunger back end. Install the cocking lever and you will be ready to go.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
I believe the problem I encountered was the anchor not being fully seated and when I cocked the gun the plunger assembly came back and the  bottom of the anchor got hung up in the spring. Since I am using a “Super Spring” I will need to practice getting it compressed enough so I can full seat the anchor.
Thanks for the tips on the trigger. I will have to check for correct location next install attempt.
Looking at the trigger today I got a good idea how the mechanism works.
This Daisy stuff is starting to become addictive. Is that common amongst people on this forum?

Very much so !
I have way more than I ever intended.
On the spring anchor: I’ve noticed that the Ryder anchor is a bit short, and doesn’t catch the rivet in the hook, but rather at the tip. I’ve been using 105b anchors with the sight removed. They are a better fit, but alas, I’m almost out and Daisy doesn’t offer replacements.
It might be worth looking at yours without the plunger in place to see where the anchor is seating.
