Hey all
This is a cheap way to make a tool to compress the spring on a plunger.Go get a cheap caulking gun with a U shape hole on the end.Take a big washer and cut a slot out of it that is a little bit bigger then the plunger shaft but smaller then the spring.Attach this to where the U shape hole is.Put the plunger in with air shaft towards the front about 2 or 3 spring coils down. Then pull the trigger on the caulking gun to push the back of the plunger forward. The shaft will go forward but the spring won't.Hope this make sense to you all. Can't seem to post pictures here but if someone can I think I could send them an email with pictures and they could post them Stevec |

Here is Steve's plunger tool. Pretty clever design! Maybe we should start a new thread about all the tools we've come up with to work on Daisy guns over time. Anyone second the motion?

Very cool. As to cheap and cheerful tools for working on Daisys......I'm up for it. Got to take a pic of my mainspring compressor. You all will have a good laugh.

Here's my high tech super tricky plunger fork:
When the wood dowels break, I might redo it with steel rods, grinding them the same way I trimmed the wood. But for now, works like a champ. |

Here is my spring fork that I recently built. It works very well and I have used it several times on Red Ryders.
This fork started out as a two-ended spark plug wrench that I haven't used in about 20-years. I still need to put a large wood knob on the end of it for better grip. |
