I found what I assume is my dad's old Model 25 while cleaning out the family house. I've read a number of posts about dating serial numbers, but I still feel a bit unsure. The reg. no. is B142437. Does that mean it was made in February of 1981, or am I misreading it? Also, where would be a good place to sell such a gun (not sure if we will, but just in case) in the Portland, OR area?

REG. NO.s cannot be read the same as LOT NO.s- in most cases. Also since model 25 production stopped in 1978, there were no No. 25 pump guns made in '81.
In any event, I can only estimate the age of the gun- I'd say mid-'60s. Joe Murfin can pin this down closer.

Joe just sent the following info on this No. 25 pump gun:
"REG.
NO. B142437 was stamped 4-13-1966". It would have been assembled some time after this date. |
