I restored an "old style," model 880, and very happy with the conversion kit from the NOS seals. Anyone help with dating it? I've grown fond of it for BB plinking, with its easy pumping and powerful performance with rifled barrel.
Lot#9F19394 This model has the "wobble," stock due to the design and only one retaining screw. FWIW, I cut a thin ribbon of black electrical tape to about 1/8" wide and 8" long. Then wrapped that around the recessed groove on the end of the stock where the receiver halves clamshell it. It is an invisible modification, reversible, and took about 80-90% of the "wobble," out.
Thanks for any help.

Bob, your 880 was made June 1989. It most likely has cast in writing on the left side only, with no writing on the right side. They do make good plinkers, for sure!

Mark,
Thanks for the dating info! Your receiver description is correct. It also has the separate white diamond insert on the forearm. I'll write that date down so I have it with the service manual.

Bob, should you ever need info on variations of the features of the 880, some of them are here: http://forum.daisymuseum.com/topic8044_post34639.html#34639. Also, there's some info for dating Daisys here: http://forum.daisymuseum.com/topic8040_post34623.html#34623
Good luck! Mark

Mark,
Thanks for the links! Interesting changes over the years. All I know is that I've become more impressed with the performance as I use it more. I have quite a few older Crosman pneumatics (140, 1400,101,760's), and while they are more robust in some materials, the 880 shoots quite well in comparison. Bob
