Looking to buy front site inserts for Model 99- "Target Special" also the sling strap. It's about time to give this old working 99 bought new in 1959 to a grandson and I want it to be complete .

Sight inserts are available from Daisy, p/n 163912-000 (5 to a set- 0.140”, 0.150”, 0.160”, 0.170”, post), $2.00

If you don't mind using a new replacement sling from the model 499B, it's p/n 134978-000, $11.00.

To add to Cobalt's point, the inserts are currently available, but they aren't the same design as the originals.

Great idea to share your Model 99 with your grandson.  I re-sealed my 1962 Model 99 last year and it shoots like new.  It was a gift to me from my grandfather in 1962 when I was all of 3!

I wish they still made the original styles, some were pretty cool looking. The 499B inserts above are more about shooting at bullseye targets, but there is a post insert- which is what I use.

C, do you still have a use for some of the washers we talked about? If you do, shoot me an email.

Thanks for posting that graphic, Cobalt.  I was going to do that, but it is on my work computer.  Trying to describe the original insert configuration is too confusing.

Yes, I may need a few washers, so I'll email you.

That was a great old rifle, I got my 99 target special in about  1963, the sling that came with mine was a leather military style sling that you could do the military quick sling with, if memory serves me correct it was a 1 1/4 wide.    not too long ago, there was a guy selling daisy slings on ebay and he had leather military style slings for about $24.00.   Hope you find what you are looking for
