Hi Dana. Sorry my slow response. If Cobalt's generous offer doesn't pan out, contact me about your stock. My email address is in my profile. Good luck with your wife's childhood treasure.

Russ, I apologize for my post- I didn't realize you had a suitable stock available- even though I thought I had read your post! Anyway, I have edited my post and I haven't heard anything from him so he's probably not been back here yet.
Regards, Mark

Mark, don't apologize. I MAY have a stock to fit. (Life is so full of uncertainty). I was only trying to help out in a pinch.
Have a good day. |

I had the opportunity to dissect a couple of 1894 stocks to see how they stiffened them inside to eliminate warpage compared to the model 25. There is nothing inside the stocks like foam or rejected BBs and shot. They have good crisscross pattern in them and a set of stiffeners that cross each other for support. Over all they hold up very good, the dark reddish colored ones are from the 60's and the light brown or buckskin colored ones are 70's to 80's. I have found a few that have gotten very hot and have started to collapse and set a crisscross pattern in the plastic but surprisingly they didn't warp bad like the 25's did. The series of pictures will show that.

Wow, great job & pictures! This was a great leap for Daisy. In "Its A Daisy" they said this was the first gun they produced where they worked from the outside in. Meaning, that the outside had to be a "Spittin Image", and everything Daisy made had to be made in such a way as to fit inside to keep the outside true to form. Those stock interiors almost seem to be computer-designed rather than drafting-table designed.
But to do that in the 1960s....?

The plastic stocks on old Daisys are certainly problematic with warping and cracking. I have restored several Daisys including adding custom solid wood stocks, if nothing more than to make them shootable again. If you are looking for a wood replacement for your Daisy send me an email with model # and I'll be glad to give you some options. banders704@yahoo.com or Buckaroowoodworks on Facebook or Instagram
