I have a #111 Mod 40 with a fixed rear sight, blued metal, painted lever, and plastic forearm.

Also, a #111 Mod 40 with an adjustable rear sight, blued metal with lots of "age" showing,  a polished al lever, and plastic forearm.

Are they varient 5,6 or neither?

i also have one with blued finish, painted lever .+ plastic fore end - purchased new for me on birthday in early 1950's - now regret throwing out  it's box, bell target holder, + scope many decades ago - still have the gun, a few of the red paper targets, + cleaning kit - still shoot it at times -

The variation 6 was first to have the plastic forearm with a fixed rear sight. The next variation went to a plastic buttstock (all plastic)  and the return of the adjustable rear sight. If you have one that has the plastic forearm only and an adjustable rear sight, it probably falls between the sixth and seventh variation. Of course stocks, forearms and levers can be easily changed so all kinds of "variations" are possible.
