I recently acquired a Daisy #12 Model 29; I'm trying to find out if its normal for this model to have an oil hole on the right side of the receiver. My 12-29 has the oil hole. I thought the first oil holes on Daisy's were on the 1955 models. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance.

As I understand it, there were two variations of the 12-29. The one that cocks on opening doesn't have an oil hole. The reverse cocker does have an oil hole in the receiver.

You are correct on the date for the "OIL HERE" hole in the barrel shroud. It came to be along with the scope holes.

Credit goes to Gary Garber and his book An Encyclopedia of Daisy Plymouth Guns, where I first learned this.
