Hello and welcome, Neal.  I hope that you find what you are seeking.

Be Prepared

I have both. Both are great shooters (if you enjoy shooting the Daisy 1894). I find them to be two of the most accurate of all of my 1894's.
They are very similar, in that both are the later (1990's) model that has plastic stocks & levers, and a safety switch on the receiver. The 1994 has the octagon barrel, the 1996 has round barrel and really nice wood stocks.
The 1996 Buffalo Bill Cody/ Cody WY Centennial version is more of a limited edition. Only 2,500 were made. They planned on making 5,000, but stopped at 2,500, due to supposed issues getting the wood stocks.
Just be careful, many of the wood stock 1996's have the plastic front barrel/stock band that are broken, as a result of the natural expansion of the wood over time. I could not find a replacement, but was able to drill a hole in a regular plastic band to replace it. It stays in place with a small screw in the front of the wood foregrip, instead of clipping into place like with the ones with plastic grips.
Good luck in your hunt. Personally, I would keep both.
