Local Wal-Maert is selling the Daisy Red Ryder Youth Line 1938 (not 1938B) for $24.47...saying regular price was $64.99.
Wonder if this is the identical gun that most others are selling for $40 +/- ....
Does Wal-Mart get a "cheaper version"...or just result of volume selling?

Is there any difference between the Red Ryder versions 1938 & 1938B?

I see they are also selling the "Pink" Red Ryder for the price.

Marv, Walmart sells the same gun as anywhere else. They're all the same with the exception of the cartons they come in- these can vary. The last 1938B Red Ryders I bought from WM (Dec. 2018) were bought online and they came in the "retro" look cartons. I paid the same price as your retail store is selling them for now. I bought a few so I got free shipping on the order because it was more than $35.00.

There's a lot of difference between the No. 1938 Red Ryder Carbine and the 1938B Red Ryder. The pink ryder is the same gun as the 1938B.

This is a  piece I wrote earlier:
The No. 1938 Red Ryder Carbine was made between 1972 and 1979. It is a very close copy of the No. 111 Model 40 Red Ryder, going all the way back to 1940. There are a few differences like the high versus low lever pivot screw position that changes the lever ratio of the No. 1938, giving it a longer throw that takes less initial effort to actuate, the No. 1938 has a lighter spring rate than the 111-40, the spring anchor shapes differ slightly, the rear sight notch of the No. 1938 is a narrower notch as opposed to the wider “dual notch” of the 111-40, the front sight blade shape and height differs, most 111-40s were blued while all No. 1938s are painted, later No. 1938s have the logo on the RH side and use phillips head screws instead of slotted screws like the 111-40. There were two different levers used on the No. 1938 Red Ryder Carbine. The first type has "notches" along the bottom and has a plastic insert where the receiver pinches the lever to retain it in the closed position. This lever was also used on a couple of the wide frame guns like the 98 and 99 but even so, it's the least common curved alloy lever. The later style lever has 'DAISY' on it and it also uses the plastic wear insert (photos below).
