Hi, I recently purchased an early Red Ryder with a very damaged stock.

It had 4 wood staples and 4 nails in it, Please see photo.

I had to remove all of this metal and glue and clamp everything together, adding a little wood filler where needed, and stain and refinish last.

This took at least 2 hours so it is impractical to do for a $20 stock, but if you had a family heirloom, it may be worth it.

It is not perfect by any means and I am not a professional, so most of you will do much better.

If anyone would like step by step directions, I would be honored to help.

Thank you and regards, gkenny.

Unbelievable the difference! I don't know if I'd have even attempted to fix it, let alone have it come out so great!!
