If that's the case, tell him it's worth a small fortune and to never sell it. LOL  I bought a 1948 Red Ryder from the original owner.I promised him that I would keep it and take good care of it. Which I have.KD p.s.  I paid $70us (it was in very good condition) P.P.S Try a magnet on the lever.

Thanks for your tips.  Actually, my husband did not buy this gun.  It was given to him when he was about 5....he was born in 1947.

Try the auction sites like gunbroker.com and auctionarms.com. No one here really likes to give values as it all depends on condition. Auctions are actual current prices and not someones guess, you can also compare conditions this way.

Based on the web site Kevin gave me it appears the gun was made between 1947 and 1952.  Thanks for everyone's help.  Now for the next one - any idea what it is worth?

It's hard to tell on the lever - he would have to scratch it to tell but he thinks it is aluminum.  The bands are steel gray.

What kind of lever does it have? Is it alluminum, cast iron, or steal? Also does it have copper colored barrel bands or a steal/grayish color?

My husband has a Daisy Red Ryder Carbine, No 111 - Model 40 - Pat 880 555-1062, 855, Daisy Mfg. Company, Plymouth, Michigan.

He would like to know when (what year) it was made.  Thanks for your help.
